Obituary for Zeta "Nanny" Heath

Funeral services for Zeta Heath, 86, will be held Monday, July 25, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Terry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 24, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.
She passed from this life to her eternal life with Jesus on July 22, 2022. She was known as Momma, Nanny and Cricket. She always had a smile and was a very sweet lady.
Zeta was born on December 12, 1935. She was premature and told the story of being kept in a shoe box and placed by the stove to keep warm. She was born in Everman, Texas to Rufus Harley Vickers and Mary Roberta (Self) Vickers.
She graduated from Burleson High School in 1954. She met and married Ray Don Williams on February 22, 1957. They moved to Lubbock, Texas and had their first son, Billy Ray Williams, on August 27, 1958. They moved to Amarillo, Texas where Gaylan Dean was born September 2, 1960. He died September 4, 1960 of Hyaline Membrane Disease. They welcomed a daughter, Donna Gaylene Williams on March 21, 1962. While in Amarillo, Zeta worked for S.I.C. Insurance and Ray Don worked for Shamrock Oil and Gas. He also ran a printing press at night. They moved to Childress in 1967, back to Ray Don’s hometown.
Zeta worked for the water department at the City of Childress and later for Greenbelt Home Health. She became the office manager for Childress Regional Medical Center Home Health where she retired in 1995. Ray Don preceded her in death in 1990 and she married Jim Heath in 1994 and gave us wonderful bonus family. She and Jim traveled and enjoyed all their time together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Irene Hardin and husband, Floyd of Burleson, sister Mary Eunice Dibas, sister Betty Jo Mitchell, brother Butch of Burleson, son Billy Ray Williams and husband Jim Heath.
Survivors include her daughter, Gaye Olay and husband, Nory, of Childress; her grandson, Kyle Longbine and wife, Nikki, of Childres and their children Caitlyn, Jacelyn and Ridge; her great granddaughter Kylee Longbine and husband, Montana Wheeler, her great great grandson Breck Riley of Amarillo; great granddaughter and best friend Kendalyn Longbine and husband, Justin Hassell and future great great grandson Jayton Dace Hassell; great granddaughter Kaydence Longbine of Childress; granddaughter Sarah Rodriguez and husband, David and her great great granddaughter Miriam of Childress; her grandson Zachary Ray Williams of Lubbock and several special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will help celebrate her life.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Childress and loved her Sunday School class dearly.
