Obituary for Winston Brown

Winston Dale Brown, age 77, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Parkview Baptist Church with Don McFarland, Pastor, officiating and Chase Finch, Assistant Pastor, assisting. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Winston was born on May 4, 1940 in San Bois, Oklahoma to Lester E. and Edith Jane (Merriman) Brown. He started driving a truck at age 14, and drove for 52 years until he retired in 2008. He loved music, and in his early teens taught himself to play guitar. Then, before retiring, he taught himself to play the dobro, then the mandolin and banjo. In 1985, Winston was saved and loved going to church and his church family. He had read the Bible through three times and started had started on the fourth. Winston was a veteran, having served his country in the United States Army. Winston was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Horace E. Brown and Billy A. Brown. Survivors include his wife, Nina Brown of Childress; a son, Mike Brown and wife, Liz of Childress; granddaughter Bethany Brown of Iowa Park; great-grandson Keegan Grubbs of Iowa Park; great-granddaughter Kyndal Grubbs of Iowa Park; great-grandson Kesston Grubbs of Iowa Park; nephew Jacky Brown of Childress; niece Patty Brown of Lubbock; and several great nieces and nephews.
