Obituary for William "Bill" Speir

William “Bill” Warren Speir, age 85, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, November 14, 2016 at the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Gary McClendon, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Bill was born on July 22, 1931 in Bogota, Texas to John Thomas and Rosa (Parker) Speir. He married Melba Jones on February 12, 1954 in Childress. He was a Machinist and Mechanic for many years, having worked for Brown’s Auto Supply and Panhandle Motor Company. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. He loved to go hunting, and taking his grandchildren and other family members hunting to his favorite spots brought him great joy and happiness. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, sister Nancy Kearney, grandson Steven K. Savely, and a nephew Billy Williams. Survivors include his wife, Melba of Childress; two sons, Roger Speir and wife, Cyndi of Childress, and Gregory Speir and wife, Marcella of Cedar Park, TX; a daughter, Susan Savely and husband, Kevin of Liberal, KS; former daughter-in-law, Janet Ewing of Amarillo; one sister, JoAnn Williams of Bogota, TX; special friends Floyd and Oleta Richardson of Wichita Falls, TX; nine grandchildren, Lori Crowell and husband, Jarrod, Angela Speir, Jennifer Olson and husband, Jeremy, Jessica Speir, Nicholas Speir, Jordan Speir, Danielle Clark, Kaylynn Baker, and Amber Baker; ten great-grandchildren;  and numerous extended family and friends.
