Obituary for Wilbur Williams

Wilbur Don Williams, age 92, passed away on January 25, 2019 in the Memphis Convalescent Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 in the Joe E. Jones Memorial Chapel in Childress Cemetery with Rev. Chad King officiating.  Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Wilbur was born on January 20, 1927 in Childress, Texas to Wilbur and Beula (Goad) Williams.  He was a lifelong resident of Childress and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
After graduating from Childress High School, he attended Texas Tech University until his Dad made him come home so he would know where the money came from.  He married Sue Howard on July 30, 1962.
Wilbur was a third generation farmer up until 1990.  He was a member of the Childress Country Club where he was an avid golfer and served as President for many years.  He also enjoyed playing dominoes and cards, fishing and gardening.  He was very witty and had quite the sense of humor.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents, sister Kathleen Tarply, his wife Sue, son Wayland MaGouirk, and a granddaughter Nicole Nelson.
Survivors include three children, Darolyn Nelson of Childress, Cissy Lovell and husband Bill of Lubbock, and Donna Garrison and fiance Mark Hightower of Childress; seven grandchildren, Heather Nelson, Tesa Nix and husband Brandon, April Modesto, Kyle Garrison and wife Precilla, Haley Lemons and husband Mark, Casey McKinney, and Joshua MaGouirk; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
