Obituary for Werner Best
Werner Willi Best, age 85, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2019.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 10 AM in Childress Cemetery with Dr. Weldon Green officiating. Burial is under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Werner was born on May 11, 1934 in Darmstadt, Germany to Wilhelm and Louise (Spies) Best. He married Ilse Fleckenstein in July of 1955, and they immigrated to the United States in 1957. Childress was their stopping point, and they remained here from that point on.
An entrepreneur, Willi owned and operated several successful businesses here, but carpentry and cabinet making were his forte. His philosophy, however, was family was the most important thing and work came second. He was a very caring and generous man, often giving of himself or monetary things even when the recipient was not someone he knew or someone that was appreciative or deserving of such generosity.
Werner was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ilse Best, son Werner Dean Best, and daughter Jutta Seal.
Survivors include one grandson, Colby Seal and wife, Sage; and one great-grandson, Cord Seal, all of Childress; three brothers-in-law, Franz Fleckenstein of Baton Rouge, LA, Fritz Fleckenstein of Germany, and Klaus Fleckenstein of Germany; one sister-in-law, Maria Regenfuss of Germany; two half-sisters, Edith Benz and Christa Sack, both of Germany; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
