Obituary for Wayne Mitchell Jr.

Wayne Allen Mitchell, Jr. was born in San Antonio, TX at the Ft. Sam Houston Military Base to the late Lisa La-Mon Mitchell Wilson and Wayne Allen Mitchell, Sr. on April 28, 1982.
Wayne lived in various cities in Texas, including Childress, New Braunfels and San Antonio.  His father was an officer in the U.S. Army, which allowed him to travel to various states across the country and he was even afforded the opportunity to live in South Korea.
He graduated from Childress High School in May, 2000.  Throughout the course of his high school years, Wayne was a vary decorated athlete and had numerous notable accomplishments.  He was an All-State Athlete in football, offense and defense; he played multiple positions in football and excelled in every one of them.  He was distinguished as an All-State Athlete in Powerlifting and Track (Shot-Put) as well.
Wayne was a huge inspiration to most of his peers starting at a very young age.  He was an exceptional athlete with a heart of gold and everyone knew it. Wayne was well-liked and well-received everywhere he went.  He was a big brother to his male and female friends alike. He was known for his ability to liven any gathering. He made everyone laugh and made sure they had a great time.   His greatest fan, supporter and best friend was his brother Jonathan. Wayne was not only his big brother and mentor, but he was his hero. They were inseparable, in spite of the distance in miles between them because of where they lived.  Wayne, Jr. did also have two great male friends whom he was close to since elementary school: Dhaval Patel and Kyle Longbine. Wayne was very fortunate because he had a lot of good friends dating back to his childhood up to his untimely death.   His amazing personally was described as infectious. He had numerous hobbies including hunting, farming. collecting odds & ends and he loved to style and profile. He enjoyed his motorcycle, classic cars and collecting guns.
He was employed at the Childress Comfort Inn as a Night Manager until his health no longer permitted him to work.  He was also General Manager for Sonic at various locations. One of his many other positions was as a night stocker at the distribution center for Walmart in New Braunfels and Plain-View, Tx.  Wayne was very talented and had a true love for music and performing. He was a recording artist along with his brother Jonathan for a local label in San Antonio called Chief Productions between the years of 2002-2005.
Wayne was diagnosed with diabetes shortly after high school and he courageously fought many complications over the past decade. As God would have it, although we are saddened by his departure, he passed away in the comfort of his home in Childress, TX where he lived with his Granny Mattie.
Wayne was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandfather, L.J. Brannon, Childress, TX; Paternal Grandmother, Shirley Jean Benzo and Paternal Grandfather, John Benzo,  Pittsburgh, PA.
He is survived by his beloved family: Wayne’s daughters will continue his legacy - Jasmine Mitchell of Wheeler, TX and Aubrey Layne Littleman of Childress, TX;  Father, Wayne Allen Mitchell, Sr. (Dursuk); Maternal Grandmother, Mattie Louise Brannon, Childress, TX; Brothers, Wayne Mitchell Scott (Tanesha), Pittsburgh, PA; Jonathan Dean Mitchell (Vanessa), San Antonio, TX; Ruben, Josh, Jeremy, Jason, and Rudy Brown, Childress, TX; Sister,  Tiffaney Sophia Mitchell, Richmond, VA.
Nieces and Nephews: Wayne Scott’s children, Tamiah Scott and Teigen Scott; Jonathan’s children, Jonathan La-Mon Mitchell, Cavin Allen Mitchell,  Isabella Lyann White, Aniela Lisa Mitchell, Aaliyah Rae Mitchell and J’Von Dean Mitchell.
Although there were many miles between them, Wayne Jr. and his father’s sister, Minister Celeste A. Benzo maintained a close relationship over the years.  They shared many laughs, conversations and fond memories. In addition, Wayne Jr. has a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly but will be forever touched by his loving spirit.
