Obituary for Wandell Johnson

Wandell Francine Berryman Johnson, 95, died Sunday, February 25, 2018 in Wellington. Service will be Tuesday, February 27, at 2:00 p. m. in First United Methodist Church, Wellington with the family officiating. Wandell Johnson was born October 31, 1922 in Matador, TX to Richard and Eda Berryman. She graduated from Matador High School in 1941. She married U. S. Navy Ensign Ober Vaughn Johnson on October 9, 1942 in Champaign, Illinois. Wandell was a lifelong homemaker and very proud to be so. She loved taking care of her family. A very creative person, her creativity manifested itself in her love of cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and quilting. Above all she loved music, and music was a constant presence in her home. This love of music was passed on to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, a sister, Frances Louise, her husband of 63 years, O. V. Johnson, and a grandson, Blaine Stewart Johnson. She is survived by four sons, Jon and wife Willa Dale of Levelland, Jamie and wife Mary of Wellington, Barry of Round Rock, and Dickie and wife Holly of Wellington; ten grandchildren, Elizabeth Johnson of Lubbock, Amy Moore and husband Greg of Houston, Katy Barron and husband Joel of Richardson, Molly Johnson of Alexandria, Virginia, Colin Johnson and wife Kelley of Oakland, California, Lucas Johnson and wife Angie of Amarillo, Chelsea Johnson of Hurst, Ethan Johnson of Amarillo, Chase Holland and wife Heather of Savanah, Georgia, and Carly Ward and husband Brandon of Wellington; and ten great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be made to the Wellington Opportunity Center or the Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.
