Obituary for Wana Richardson

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, September 23, 2013 in First Baptist Church with Rev. Norman Rushing and Mr. Kerry Wood officiating . Burial will be in Childress Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wana Lou Richardson was born on September 3, 1914 in Altus, Oklahoma to Sim N. and Minnie Zee Briscoe Tawwater. Wana loved gardening, lawn work, knitting and sewing. Her first profession of faith was in the First Methodist Church of Quanah, In 1946, she joined and was baptized into The First Baptist Church of Childress. She taught adult Sunday School for 45 years. She was a member of Women's Missionary Union for 43 years as Director, President and Group Leader. Wana was affectionately known as "Mammy" to family and friends. She was prededed in death by Husband, Afton Richardson, Son, Charles Grant, 2 Son-in-laws, Bill Trosper and Harvey Compton, 2 Brothers, Woodrow Tawwater and Bill Tawwater and 2 Sisters, Wilma Swindell and Clara Tawwater. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels or your favorite charity. She is survived by: 2 Daughters - Sue Trosper, Childress, TX,; Cynthia Kay Compton, Bryan, TX 2 Brothers - Sim Tawwater, Jr., Oklahoma City, OK.; Wilton "Tut" Tawwater and wife Dorothy, Plainview, TX. Sister - Betty Ellis and husband Vernon, Quanah, TX. 12 Grandchildren; 25 Great Grandchildren; 36 Great Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Great Grandchildren; Numerous Nieces and Nephews
