Obituary for Walter McAlister

Graveside services for Walter McAlister, 82, will be held Monday September 25 at 10 a.m. at Childress Cemetery with Chris Stewart officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.

Walter Andrew McAlister Jr. was born on December 29, 1940 in Childress, Texas to Walter Andrew McAlister Sr. and Ivy Faye Wallace McAlister. Walter worked as a mechanic for over 35 years doing outdoor power equipment work for 15 of those 35 years. He loved fishing and visiting with everyone he met. He met Miss Mitty Rose one day while her dad was getting his car fixed. He asked her out later that day and they were married a year later. He retired from being a mechanic and started working for the Greenview and Fairview manor as a maintenance man. He retired from being a mechanic and started working for the Greenview and Fairview Manor as a maintenance man, until his wife got sick and he retired to stay with her until her death.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife.

He is survived by a daughter, Teresa Adams, and husband, Roger, of Childress; a daughter, Karen McAlister, also of Childress; Granddaughters Nikki Favor and husband, Cody; Kassi Lewis all of Childress; Six great grandkids Harlie and Thor Meachum, Tucker Lewis, Landon Nolan and wife, Allison, Hunter Favor and Keegan Favor all of Childress; two great great grandkids Kynzlee and Cole Nolan all of Childress; a sister-in-law Betty Taber, of Childress and numerous nieces and nephews.
