Virginia Peyton Van Bibber, 95 of Childress, Texas died on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, in Childress. Funeral Service will be 10:00AM, Wednesday, JUNE 5th at the Joe E. Jones Chapel in Childress Cemetery. Virginia was born March 14, 1918 in Childress to Wade and Maybelle Knight McConnell. She and Karl Van Bibber married April 10, 1943 in Childress. He was a draftsman for the railroad and an accomplished cartoonist. He preceded her in death, April 20, 1957. Virginia's career included working for Mahon and Broughton Attorneys, Burlington Northern Railroad, Childress Chamber of Commerce, and retired with Bird and Bird Law Firm. Virginia adored Childress and it's people. She enjoyed travel, literature, and music. Being fun loving, she never met a stranger and was always quick with humor and wit. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and so enjoyed her church, Sunday school class and UMW Circle. In honor of her 90th birthday, her family donated a fountain to the City of Childress.
