Obituary for Velma "Big Granny" Dugan
Funeral services for Velma “Big Granny” Dugan, 73, will be held Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 1 p.m. in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rodger Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Monday, November 11, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.
She passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019 in Wichita Falls.
She was born February 25, 1946 in Phoenix, Arizona to Vernon Ned Thornhill and Ruby Agnes Sparks. She was a talented seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Delwin Thornhill, Eddie Thornhill, Travis Thornily, A.W. Thornily and Dolan Thornhill.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Dugan of Childress; a son, Stephen Dugan and wife, Jane, of Whitney, Texas; a son, Kenneth Dugan and wife, Mary, of Midlothian, Texas; a daughter, Tammy Bishop and husband, Ronnie, of Childress, Texas; a granddaughter, Jessica Dugan of Waco, Texas; a grandson, Austin Bishop of Big Spring; a grandson Sgt. Michael Bishop of Fort Carson, Colorado; a granddaughter, Brittany Dugan and friend Dillon Carver of Whitney, Texas; great grandchildren, Ryan, Serenity, Denver, Alana and Easton; a sister, Estelline Murphy of Odessa, Texas; a brother, Melvin Thornhill and wife, Mary, of Pine Mills, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
