Stephen William Thaten, age 29, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017 in Childress. Memorial services will be held at 1 PM on Friday, August 25, 2017 at the Central Christian Church with Ronnie Shoffner officiating under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Stephen was born on December 14, 1987 in Lubbock, TX to James Pat and Penny (Burresch) Thaten. He was preceded in death by grandparents H.W. and Nell Thaten, grandfather Robert Burresch, aunts Judy Walker and Chrystal Gammon, and uncles Steve Thaten and Michael and Robert Burresch. Survivors include his mother, Penny Sutter Thaten of Marlin, TX; father, James Pat Thaten of Childress; son, Noah Marshall Thaten of Canyon; daughter, Acelynn Sky Thaten of Childress; sisters, Brittney Diane Townsend and husband, Travis of Pearland, and Holly Ann Thaten of Childress; aunt, Marsha Murphy and husband, Larry of Childress; grandmother, Sherrie Burresch of Dallas; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
