Shirley Marie Liles, age 80, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016 in Childress. Graveside services will be at 10 AM on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 in Childress Cemetery with Ronnie Shoffner officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Monday, September 12, at Johnson Funeral Home. Shirley was born on May 25, 1936 in Saltillo, Texas to Fred and Ila Marie (Corley) Culpepper. She was an avid Bridge player, and also loved to play 42 and other games. She loved to mentor and be a positive influence on young people, offering them sound advice from her years of experiences. She also liked to work in her yard and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Above all else, Shirley loved her family and took great pleasure in telling stories, playing with all the babies in the family, and went to everything that she could of their activities and events. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Swanee Mullenix. Survivors include her husband, John”Butch” Liles of Childress; one daughter, Paula Badger and husband, Tom of Amarillo; one grandson, Chris Hatcher and wife, Zevely of Kilgore, TX; one granddaughter, Lindsey Freeze of Amarillo; three great-grandchildren, Jackson Hatcher and Maci Hatcher of Kilgore, and Mattie Freeze of Amarillo; and numerous extended family and friends. Memorials may be made to the Childress Meals on Wheels or to CRMC Hospice.
