Obituary for Shatora Dawn Floyd

In loving memory of Shatora Dawn Floyd who passed away on February 4, 2024 in Plano, Texas. Shatora was the beloved daughter of Terry Lynn Dickens and granddaughter of Pearl Dalton. She was a dearly loved mother, sister, niece, and cousin. Shatora will be deeply missed. SHATORA DAWN FLOYD was born on December 16, 1983, in Childress, Texas to James Lewis Floyd and Terry Lynn Dickens. God called Shatora home on Sunday, February 4, 2024.

Shatora was raised in Childress, Texas and is an alumna of Childress High School, class of 2002. Shatora’s post-secondary education included attendance at Clarendon College in Clarendon, TX. She worked for several years in the food and customer service industry. Shatora gave her life to Christ at an early age. She had a big heart and would give her last to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Shatora enjoyed spending time reading, cooking, caring for others, and enjoying the company of family and friends.

Shatora was preceded in death by her parents: James Floyd and Terri Dickens; grandfather, Eugene Jacobs; grandmothers, Lenora Simmons and Pearl Dalton; uncles, Samuel Jacobs and Nathaniel Sheppard; aunt, Elaine Blackstone; cousin, Karla Oldham.

Shatora is survived by her two children; son, Treyveon Mims and daughter, Key’ihra Mims both of Fort Smith, AR; sister, Nekeiaa Dickens of Dallas, TX; stepfather, Robert Dickens of Quanah, TX; godmother, Clarice Allen of Independence, MO; multiple uncles, Gene Burns (w. Connie Burns) of Amarillo, TX and James Burns of Baton Rouge, LA; an abundance of aunts, Elizabeth Carter (h. Carlton T. Carter) of Norman, OK; Joann Sheppard (h. Nathaniel Sheppard) of Borger, TX; Claudette Allen-Butler of San Diego, CA; Rena Davis of Childress, TX; Tammy Davis of Norman, OK; Patricia Paris (h. Victor Paris) of Fort Worth, TX; Carolyn Farmer of Memphis, TN; and Sheila Crump of Memphis, TN.

Along with cousins; Bridgett Burns-McDowell (h. John McDowell), Latasha Harris, Shabron Burns, James Land, Carlton T. Carter II (w. Lisa Carter), Charlton L. Shatora also had a host of extended family and friends.
