Samuel (Sammy) Lewis of Childress, TX passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2020. Sammy was born on July 19, 1942 in Childress, TX to Samuel and Bertha Lewis. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at the Childress Cemetery, with Ronnie Shoffner officiating and Terry Williams assisting under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.

Sammy will be remembered for always being funny, strong and above all, stubborn. He was a very hard worker and began working at a very young age. He was a great mechanic and he could fix anything. In his younger years he was a volunteer fireman and was a member of the REACT CB club. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved cars. Sammy loved his family dearly.

Sammy is survived by his children, Tammy Muncrief, Eddie Lewis, Richard Lewis, Shelly Williamson and Heather Lewis, four sisters, Grace Sumpter, Evelyn Sumpter, Lois Morgan and Eleanor Christie, four cousins, Travis Wages, Milton Wages, Cheryl McKenzie and Buddy Lee Lewis, thirteen grandchildren and 23 great-grand children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Irene Calcite, Bonnie Dill and Hazel Moran and one brother C.J. Lewis.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to CRMC Hospice of Childress.
