Obituary for Rufus Goodwin

Rufus Ray Goodwin, age 93, died Monday, April 22, 2013 in Wichita Falls. Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, April 26, 2013 in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Trey Morgan officiating . Burial will be in Childress Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Ray was born January 10, 1920 in Lone Oak, Texas to Peter and Georgia Coffee Butler. He was a member of the 101st Airborne during WWII; Ray made his final jump April 22, 2013. A long time resident of the Kamay/Valley View, Texas area, Ray spent the last 30 years in Childress. He enjoyed farm life, gardening, and could be seen selling the fruits of his labor. He enjoyed family visits when he taught his grand kids to shoot. His favorite passtimes were hunting and fishing with his family and friends, and cooking a mean bowl of chili which became a tradition. Full of life and love for all, Ray never met a stranger and would lend a helping hand whenever he was needed. He will truly be missed.
