Obituary for Ronald Sims

Funeral services for Ronald B. Sims, 81, will be held Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Childress with Norman Rushing officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 4-6 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.

Ronald was born November 24, 1940 to Gladys Luella Smith Sims and William Aurthur Sims in Childress, TX and passed from this life on August 12, 2022. He was born and raised in Childress, graduated from high school in 1959 and went into the Army. After he retired from military service, he served as a law enforcement officer and Sheriff in Childress. He attended First Baptist Church and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. His hobbies included woodworking, fishing, and genealogy; he most enjoyed time and laughter with his beloved family and friends.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, his older brothers Tom and Leo Sims, and his grandson Cole Cofer.

He is survived by his wife Rebecca Moore Sims of Childress; daughter Shanon Sims of Austin, TX; daughter Sarah Sims of Childress, TX; and daughter and son-in-law Sharon & Chris Blackburn of New Braunfels, TX; 6 grandchildren: Jade Pleming and husband Adil Bel, Ashley Walker, Dakota Walker, Jake Walker, Jackson Blackburn, and Sutton Blackburn; and four great grandchildren: London, Paris, and Kash Dixon, and Novalee Walker. He is also survived by his siblings Marie Simmons, Sue Mock, John Sims, Martha Little, and Sherry Gomez, and their families.
