Obituary for Richard "Dick" Mitchell
Private graveside services for Richard H. “Dick” Mitchell, 88, will be held at Childress Cemetery. Dick passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2020 in Childress.
He was born February 2, 1932 in Childress to Harry Mitchell and Rose Etta Johnson Mitchell.
Dick spent 42 years working for Southwestern Bell before retirement. He was a longtime member of the Childress Rotary Club, a former Exalted Ruler of The Childress Elks Lodge and a member of First Baptist Church. He loved to watch birds.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marlene Mitchell; two brothers, Joe Bill and John Naylor; and two sisters, Rosemary Reynolds and Bette Jane Hodges.
Survivors inlcude his wife, Geraldine Mitchell of Childress; a son, Richie Mitchell and wife, Raedella of Borger; a daughter, Pam Smothermon and husband, Ronnie, of Odessa; six grandchildren, Amy Cartmell and husband, Chad; Chad Smothermon; Chace Mitchell and wife, Jennifer; Bobby Mitchell and wife, Amy; Mandi Joyce; Steven Mitchell and wife, Alexandrea; stepson Clay Seal and Martha Little; stepdaughter Darla Leveridge and husband, Miles; sister Jacqueline Elliott and sister-in-law Nell Mitchell.
Memorals may be made to a local charity of choice.
