Dr. Perry L. Morren, 82, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017 with his daughter by his side. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Childress Church of Christ with Dr. Mike Henderson officiating. Visitation with the family will immediately follow the memorial service. Perry Lee Morren was born March 22, 1935 in Childress to James N. and Margie Hopkins Morren. He graduated from Childress High School in 1953 where he was an All-American football player. He was later drafted by the Cleveland Indians and had a minor league baseball career. He married Genta Vaughn on January 29, 1956 in Childress and they were married 57 years. He attended Cameron University in Lawton, Okla. where he was an All-American, Central State College in Edmond, Okla. and Texas Chiropractic College in San Antonio. He opened his chiropractic office in Childress in 1962 and continued to practice until shortly before his passing. He loved golf, sports, reading and bowling, but his family was his favorite way to spend time. He was a member of the Childress Church of Christ, where he served as both a deacon and elder. He also served on the CISD School Board of Trustees and was a member of the Childress Rotary Club. His favorite hobby was following his grandchildren’s activities. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Genta; a brother, Don Morren and two sisters, Billye Law and Joy Morren. Survivors include a daughter, Lee Ann Morren of Childress; a son, Perry L. Morren Jr. and wife, Bonnie of Dallas; a sister, Gay Nell Allen and husband, Eddie Wayne of Wichita Falls; sister-in-law, Jane Wiemers and husband, Wayne of Marfa, TX; brother-in-law, Jerry Williamson of Jacksboro; a grandson, Bonner Morren of Austin; two granddaughters, Lucie Morren and Madeline Morren of Dallas; and numerous extended family and friends.
