Obituary for Patsy Sims

Patsy Sue Sims, age 83, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016. Funeral services will be at 2 PM on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Parkview Baptist Church with Pastors Don McFarland and Chase Finch officiating, assisted by Dr. Mike Henderson. Burial will follow in Kirkland Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home. Patsy was born on March 16, 1933 in Kirkland to Albert Raymond and Violet (Jarrell) Hardin. She married Robert Ray Sims on June 12, 1948 in Childress. Patsy was shy as a child, but as an adult she never knew a stranger. With her kind heart and soft touch, she thrived and took great satisfaction in her career as a nurse, bringing comfort to those in her care. It was her main enjoyment in life. Patsy was also involved in her church choir and with “Martha’s Ministry” at Parkview Baptist Church. In her spare time, she loved to garden. She was a wonderful Christian woman who loved her children, grandkids and great-grandkids. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, brother Wayne Hardin, and husband Robert Ray Sims. Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Sue McCarty and husband, Monte of Childress; two sons, Kenneth Ray Sims and wife, Pam of Amarillo, and Robert Sims and wife, Barbara of Childress; eight grandchildren, John Arbuckle, Todd Arbuckle, Cory McCarty, Casey Sims, Courtney Woodward, Jonathan Duggar, Heath Sims and Tanner Sims; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to Childress Meals on Wheels.
