Obituary for Orville Franklin Weatherbee
Orville Franklin Weatherbee passed away on December 18, 2023 in Childress, TX.
Services will be at 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 21, 2023 at the Presbyterian Church of Childress with Cliff Johnson presiding. Burial to follow at Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Thursday, just before the funeral, at 1:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
Orville Weatherbee was born on March 16, 1929 in Childress, Texas to William F. Weatherbee and his wife, Birdie. He was the youngest of 4 sisters and 3 brothers. He married the love of his life, Frances, and was married for 73 years. He also served his country in the Army. Orville was always there to love and support his friends and family. He served his community in various ways. He was a long time volunteer of the 4-H Club of Childress. Orville served as Chaplain of Eastern Star and the Elks Lodge. He and Frances were also honored with the title, King and Queen of Old Settlers.
Orville is survived by his wife, Frances, of Childress, Texas; daughter, Melinda Smith and husband Dennis of Pittsburg, Texas; granddaughter, Kathryn Smith of Ithaca, New York; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
