Obituary for Oma Elaine Jones
Memorial services for Oma Elaine Jones, 70, will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Central Christian Church with Dr. Mike Henderson officiating.
She passed away February 18, 2023 in Childress.
Oma Elaine Whitehead was born November 7, 1952 in Childress to T.R. Whitehead and Oma Smith Whitehead.
She grew up in Childress and her medical career began early as she was a candy striper at Childress General Hospital at an early age. She graduated from Childress High School in 1970 and then attended Amarillo College where she received both Licensed Vocational Nurse and Registered Nurse certifications. She worked for 40 years as a nurse, the majority of which occurred in Childress. She was the Director of Nurses at Childress Regional Medical Center for a number of years. She loved nursing.
The only thing she loved more was her family and her little dogs. She also enjoyed going antique shopping with her good friend Frances Smith. She loved Jesus and adored her great grandchildren, who she never thought she’d live to see. She also loved her friends dearly. She never had a bad word to say about anyone.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Survivors include her son, Peter Jones and wife, Kim, of Childress; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Willis and husband, Seth, of Childress; grandson, Colton Jones, of Norman, Okla.; and great grandchildren Beau and Brock Willis of Childress.
