Obituary for Nellie Lambert

Nellie “G-Ma” Lambert, 77, went to her heavenly home on Friday, October 8, 2021 in Amarillo. Services will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 4 pm at First Baptist Church in Childress. Burial will follow at Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Monday, October 11, 2021 from 6-8 pm at Johnson Funeral Home.
Nellie was born November 11, 1943 in Memphis, Texas to George and Kathleen Pierce. She graduated as Valedictorian from Lakeview High School in 1962. She married Ray Lambert on July 28, 1962. Together they farmed and ranched in Tell until Ray’s passing. Ray always affectionately referred to Nellie as “Her.” After Ray passed, she sold the farm and worked several years as Office Manager for the Mullin Ford Motor Company. She then became a teacher’s aide for Childress High School where she worked for 10 years until her retirement.
Nellie was a woman of great faith. She enjoyed her work, spending time with her bible class, her prayer warriors, and her family, especially her grandchildren … Reagan, Ryan and Bailey. She loved reading her bible and working crossword puzzles. She was known for her quick wit and sweet nature.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Kathleen Pierce, her husband Ray Lambert, and sister Lois Crone.
Nellie is survived by her son Kirby Lambert and wife, Denise, of Amarillo, grandchildren Reagan Lambert and fiancée, Summer, of Muleshoe, Ryan Lambert and wife, Amber, of Abilene, Bailey Lambert of Amarillo and Kalin Bentley of Childress, Great-Grandchildren Racy and Jackson Lambert of Childress; her sisters Naomi Bailey of Childress, Violet Waller of Amarillo, Elizabeth Billingtondenham of Amarillo, brothers Clenton Pierce and wife, Diane, of Amarillo and Gene Crone of Oklahoma City as well as numerous nieces and nephews that she adored.
