Obituary for Mittie Lou Chandler
Graveside services for Mittie Lou Chandler, 91, will be held Monday, April 5, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Joe E. Jones Memorial Chapel at Childress Cemetery with Tommy Sims officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
She was born August 23, 1929 in Cabaniss, Oklahoma to Bessie and Jessie Franklin Sims. She was a telephone operator for 36 years before retiring. She had one son, Jessie Franklin Chandler, who was her caregiver the last few years at home. She enjoyed reading and playing bingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Milton Chandler, sisters Eva Warren, Ada Philpott, Bess Davenport and Maxine Murphy and brothers Dennis Sims and James Evan Sims.
Survivors include her son, Jessie Franklin Chandler, of Amarillo; a grandson, Cameron Chandler, of Arizona; two brothers, Leslie Sims and wife, Bootsie, of North Carolina and Tommy Sims and wife, Beverly, of Childress; and a sister, Georgia Jones, of Childress. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
