Obituary for Mickey Mills
Graveside services for Mickey Allen Mills, 67, will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Childress Cemetery with Ronnie Shoffner officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
He gained his angel wings Wednesday, October 20, 2021 in Lubbock.
Mickey was born October 25, 1953 in Quanah to A.A. “Al” Mills and Ruby Redwine Mills. He was the sixth of seven children. He lived his entire life in Childress with the exception of moving to Amarillo and working for Owens Corning where he retired. He then moved back to Childress to live out his remaining years.
Mickey was a people person and had many friends, he truly loved life and looked forward to the holidays and spending time with family over Christmas and Thanksgiving meals. He enjoyed baking and made a mean coconut cream pie. He was a talented carpenter and enjoyed antiquing. Refinishing antiques was he was specialty and he was very knowledgeable about their history.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roger Mills; brother-in-law, Joe Klapper; niece, Kelly Klapper Rhea and sister-in-law, Denese Mills.
Survivors include brothers, Ricky Mills, Mike Mills and wife, Cynthia and Monte Mills and wife, Elizabeth; sisters Brenda Klapper and Sheila Melton and husband, Roger and numerous nieces and nephews.
