Mattie Ruth McMinn, 94, of Childress, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. Her funeral service will be held at Childress Church of Christ on Saturday, May 18,2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Mr. Trey Morgan officiating. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Friday, May 17, 2013 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery. Mattie was born on February 8, 1919 in Quanah, and moved to Childress in the 1930's. She was the daughter of the late John and Della Stepp. She was married to the late Homer McMinn on July 13, 1935 for 63 years. She is survived by her daughter June Barley of Amarillo and son Jan McMinn of Childress, six grandchildren; Terry Barley, Tony Barley, Shawna Keys, Jade, Carly and Nickolas McMinn, eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She loved her family, enjoyed gardening, painting, and was a faithful member of the Childress Church of Christ. She and Homer were owners of the Childress Tractor Company where she worked until retirement. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Honduras Youth Fund (Childress Church of Christ) or Westview Boys Home in Hollis, Okla.
