Obituary for Matthew Thomas
Memorial services for Matthew Thomas, 34, will be held Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 10 a.m. alongside his grandfather’s service at Childress Cemetery. Jim Lile will officiate.
He passed away October 3, 2023 in Childress County.
He was born January 22, 1989 to Robert Thomas and Kanda Whitten in Amarillo.
Matthew was a loving father, cousin and friend. He was a hard worker and talented welder. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for his family. He enjoyed traveling and fishing. Most of all, he loved his daughters. Matthew is so loved and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his adopted mother, Flo Nunnelly, grandparents Betty and Dayne Whitten, and cousin, Zyan Perez.
Survivors include his daughters Jaylynn Mendoza Thomas and Roselynn Mendoza Thomas of Gardendale, Texas; his biological mother, Kanda Whitten, of Childress; aunts and uncles, Donna and Charles Fanning and Sheri and Ronny Bradford, cousins, Cassie Stark and husband, Scott, Kelley Whitten and wife, Allyson, Kayla Hernandez, Jaycee Perez, Destiny Perez, Kingsley Stark, Aubrey Littleman, Anaya Littleman, Aiden Gilbert, Wyatt Whitten and Noah Whitten.
