Matthew Ryan Hutsell, 36, died October 9, 2014 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas with family at his side. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, October 18, 2014 in the Chapel of the First Baptist Church, Childress, Texas with Ted Tyler of Lubbock officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Combest Family Funeral Home of Lubbock. Matthew was born on January 17, 1978 in Childress to Mark and Mitzi Hutsell. He attended Childress schools and graduated from Yukon High School in Yukon, Oklahoma. In 2009, Matthew married Leigh Ann Christensen in Lubbock. Matthew’s greatest accomplishment was his son, Gabriel, whom he affectionately called his “Angel” and “Speed Racer”. A welder by trade, Matthew was able to quickly learn any task put before him. He loved people and no matter where he went, he proved that it truly is a small world. He had a tenacious love for music especially that of his guitarist hero, Dimebag Darrell. Matthew is survived by his mother, Mitzi Hutsell Churchwell of Plano; son, Gabriel Hutsell of Denver; brother, Marcus Hutsell of Austin; Gabriel’s mother, Leigh Hutsell; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Mark Hutsell and his devoted and beloved maternal Grandparents, R.D. and Flo Cagle and paternal Grandparents, Flute and Junis Hutsell.
