Obituary for Martha Reese

Martha (Corgill) Reese, age 82 of Childress, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2016. Funeral services will be at 10 AM on Monday, August 8, 2016 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Nadine Throgmorton and Lavina Swenson officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Martha was born on September 11, 1933 in Estelline, Texas to Jim Bob and Thelma (McCreary) Corgill. In recent years, she was a truck driver, which is how she met her husband, C. Weldon Reese. During a layover between loads in Amarillo, Texas on August 7, 1995, they were married and began their life together. Martha loved to travel, and she and Weldon had been to every state at least twice with the exception of Alaska. She loved adventure and going on cruises. She was an expert quilter, and won 1st place at the Tri-State Fair with a quilt that she had made by hand and without the use of a machine. A friendly person, Martha made an impression on someone everywhere she went. This trait also equipped her to be a wonderful LVN, which she did for some time prior to becoming a truck driver. Above all else, she loved her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Lona Marie Rodgers; and a brother Jimmy Dale Corgill. Survivors include her husband, Weldon Reese of Childress; five daughters, Judy Ferguson and husband, John of Banner Elk, NC, Sandra Denny of Childress, Deloris Stewart and husband, Joe Trevino of Childress, Rene Shaw and husband, John of Yuelle, FL, and Darla Reese of Dalhart; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous extended family and friends. Memorials may be made to CRMC Hospice, PO Box 1030, Childress, TX 79201.
