Martha Doris Dickerson, age 78, died Thursday, October 02, 2014 in Childress. Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 04, 2014 in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Ronnie Shoffner officiating . Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery in Hawley, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Martha was born on October 27, 1935 in Brice, TX to Robert Cecil and Alta Irene (Baty) Reed. She married Lloyd "Duck" Dickerson, Jr. on August 17, 1957 in Memphis, TX. Martha was a giving person who gave food and shelter to anyone who needed it. Over the years, she opened her home and her heart to those less fortunate, providing them not only a warm bed and hot food, but hospitality. She loved to cook, and was a hard worker. Fun-loving and a joker, she was a jolly person who loved to play games, especially BINGO. For many years, she was a cook at the nursing home in Clarendon, and worked as a Home Attendant for the Clarendon Home Health. She was baptized in the Lakeview Church of Christ, where she was a member. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2004, by her parents and by a sister, Dorothy Johnson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
