Obituary for Lonzo Polley

Funeral services for Lonzo Polley, 83, are scheduled for Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 2 p.m. Calvary Baptist Church with Roger Weeks, Bobby Evans and Larry Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday, August 13, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.
Mr. Polley passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021 in Childress.
He was born September 4, 1937 in Hemphill, Texas to Zafus Polley and Lurline Williams Polley.
He was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and loved playing Dominoes and Spades. He had many skills including as a mechanic, farming and he was a good fisherman. He grew up in Turkey, Texas and San Augustine, Texas. He went to school in Childress. He had a great personality and loved to joke with everyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Donell Polley, a sister, Shirley Davis, a sister, Ivory Pearl Edwards, a sister, Billy Sue Richards, a sister, Mary Gore, a sister, Hazel Richardson, a brother Robert Polley and a brother, James Polley.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie Polley; children Cynthia Jeter, Lance Polley (Adrianna), Clifton Davis (Deanna) Latasha Davis, Jacqueline Sumpter (Monty), Michael Davis (Tamara); 24 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; brothers Curtis Polley and Sandra and Kenneth Wright and sisters Addie Nelson, Susie Barnes and Faye Polley; special son-in-law Tyrone McBride and special friend Kacy Self Crouch.
