Lon Ray Morris, age 72, died Sunday, May 04, 2014 in Childress. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 07, 2014 in Childress Cemetery with Mr. Trey Morgan, Pastor of Childress Church of Christ, and Dr. Craig Darter, officiating.  Burial will be in Childress Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on May 6, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM. Lon Ray was born on March 19, 1942 in Childress to John Thomas and Janie Irene (Miller) Morris. A lifelong resident of Childress, he loved the outdoors. When weather permitted, he could often be found hunting, fishing or camping. He was a skilled craftsman, and made knives and canes, many of which he gave away to local friends and acquaintances. Lon Ray was a great guy who loved kids and his family, especially his grandkids. A firm believer in the Right to Bear Arms, Lon was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was also a member of the Childress Church of Christ. He worked for Villyards, Inc. for fourty-seven years until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas and Janie Irene Morris.
