Obituary for Lois Stiner

Long time civic leader, Lois Stiner, age 98, died Saturday, December 1, 2012 in Childress. Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, December 7, 2012 in Central Christian Church with Rev. Roger Simmons officiating . Burial will be in Childress Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Lois Brooks Stiner was born, November 25, 1914 in Kirkland, to John and Celia Ann Thomas Brooks. Lois graduated from Kirkland High School in 1933 and from Texas Womens University in 1941. She taught school in both Ft. Worth and Chillicothe. She owned Lois' Dress Shop for 26 years. She always said, " The best people in the world live in Childress". Lois was presented her most recent honor from the Texas Department of Agriculture. The state recognized her family, as one of the few, for 100 years of service to Texas land and Agriculture. She was preceded in death by her Husband Glenn; siblings, Claude, Lucille, Nobie, Hattie Jo and Bill. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, or Childress County Heretage Museum. Survivors: Nephew - John Brooks and wife, Margie, Wichita Falls; Nephew - Jerry Brooks and wife, Debra, Denton; Niece - Jan Harris and husband, Gene, Lubbock; Nephew - Jay Johnson, Hong Kong; Niece - Fran Lewis and husband, Doug, Lubbock; Niece - Kaye Crawford and husband, Randall, Lubbock; Nephew - Bob Phipps, Amarillo; Niece - Patricia Walker and husband, Don, Ft. Worth; Nephew - Phil Brooks and wife, Linda, Ft. Myers, FL; Nephew - Tim Brooks and wife, Kim, Ft. Myers, FL
