Obituary for Linda Trent

Linda Sue Trent, age 76, passed away on November 12, 2017 in Amarillo, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 11:00AM at the Joe E. Jones Chapel at the Childress Cemetery with Rev. Randy Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Linda was born on March 13, 1941 in Childress to Beal and Opal (Daulton)Smith. She grew up in Tell on a farm, and at a young age she married Wayland Trent. Linda worked for the Texas Workforce Commission as an auditor for decades until she retired in the mid 2000’s. She also helped her husband, Wayland, with his crop dusting business. She was an avid expert antique buyer and collector, and often gave information and advice to others in the antique dealing community. She loved gardening and her dogs. She was politically active in the Tea party and Republican Party. Linda was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church in Amarillo. Above all else, she was a devoted wife and a very loving mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayland, brother Harold Smith, and her parents. Survivors include her son, Wendell Trent of Amarillo; three brothers, Stephen Smith and wife, Janie of Mesa, Arizona, Billy Van Smith and wife, Sue of Mountain Home, Texas, and Jerry Dean Smith of Clarksville, Texas; and numerous extended family and friends.
