Obituary for Linda Dockery

A sunrise service for Linda Dockery, 58, will be held Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 7:30 a.m. at the Joe E. Jones Chapel at Childress Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 8:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Terry Williams officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 5:30-8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral home. She passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019 in Childress. She was born July 28, 1961 in Quanah to Clarence McIntyre and Ruby Mae Martin-Muncrief and was raised in Kirkland, TX. She was the youngest of 5 children. Linda, along with her siblings, attended and graduated from Childress High School. She enjoyed playing the saxophone in the Bobcat Band and taking a drag or two with her friends. Linda worked in healthcare her whole life, but felt a strong spiritual calling to pursue nursing. She proudly became an LVN at 50 and started her new journey. She first found her calling as a caregiver when she became a mother and later in life through caring for her residents. Linda love her daughter unconditionally and raised her alongside D'Linda's father. As D'Linda grew up, her and her mother became the deepest and best of friends. Linda had moved away from Childress for a period of time but later returned to be close to her family that was so dear to her. She lived her final days surrounded by those she loved and who loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ricky McIntyre Survivors include a daughter, D’Linda Dockery and husband, Gary Jackson, of Childress; a grandchild, Ander Jackson of Childress; a brother, Darrell McIntyre and wife, Kathleen, of Childress; two sisters, Debbie Chapman and husband, Stan, and Donna Woodson and husband, Jerrell, all of Childress; a sister-in-law Julia McIntyre of Lovelady, Texas along with numerous nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
