Obituary for Lendon Davis

Lendon L. Davis, age 69, passed away on June 22, 2016 in Childress, TX. Funeral services have been set for 2:00 P.M.a on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Childress with Matthew McCurley officiating and Chad King and Al Neighbors assisting. Graveside services will follow in Gould Cemetery, Gould Oklahoma under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Lendon was born on November 8, 1946 to Henry Davis and Rose (Fennell) Davis in Hollis, OK. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, first from 1966 to 1969 and then re-enlisting from 1982 to 1985. He was an Optometrist, and owned and operated an optometry office in Childress for 27 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Childress and had a passion for missions, and even went on a number of trips to Terlingua to provide his services. Lendon was an avid Mavericks fan, and enjoyed restoring cars and travelling. He also enjoyed woodworking and carpentry. Above all else, he loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his parents-in-law Carlos and Velma Haught. Survivors include his wife, Sherry Davis of Childress; four sons, Chad Davis and wife, Irene of Colorado Springs, Lance Davis and wife, Lauren of Childress, Kyle Davis and wife, Roxana of Evanston, IL, and Eric Davis and wife, Alexandra of Dallas; one sister, Cathy James of Corpus Christi; ten grandchildren Veronica, Alan, Jacob, Matthew, Chloe, Ryder, Claire, Adriana, Lucas and Olivia; 3 Brothers-in-law, Phil Haught and wife Nova of Houston, Doug Haught and wife Judy of Elk City, Mark Haught and wife Carolyn of Elmore, and numerous nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either First Baptist Church of Childress or to the Gould Cemetery in Gould, Oklahoma.
