Obituary for Laurie Halford Montgomery

Funeral services for Laurie Jane Montgomery will be held Monday, October 3, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Childress with Kerry Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Home.

She was born on Saturday, January 7, 1956 in Childress to Clinton and Charlotte Halford. She passed from this life on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 in Amarillo, Texas.

Laurie was a long-time resident of Childress, Texas, where she grew up, fell in love and gave birth to two beautiful boys. She held a number of professional roles over the years but spent many years at Rolling Plains Production Credit Association in Childress before moving to Stephenville, Granbury and most recently Amarillo for the past 14 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and Mimi who loved country music, flowers of any kind, decorating for every holiday and creating fantastic Christmas experiences for her beloved grandchildren. Never will we see the leaves change, watch a rodeo, work a puzzle or visit a plant nursery that we won’t ache to have her beside us. She will be missed more than words can sufficiently express.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clinton, and brother, Steve.

Laurie is survived by husband, Kim Montgomery of Amarillo. Four Children: Ryan Evans and wife, Courtney, of Amarillo, Jeffrey Evans and wife, Jessica, of Dallas, Seth Montgomery of Vega and Heath Montgomery and wife, Emily, of Mesquite. Four Grandchildren: Tristin Evans of Amarillo, Alexandra Evans of Dallas, Elin Evans of Dallas and Charlie Montgomery of Vega. Mother: Charlotte Halford of Childress. One Brother: Bruce Halford and wife, Jerri, of San Antonio. One Sister: Nancy White of Childress. Nieces and Nephews: April Jones of Childress, Leslie McElroy of Midland, and Blake Halford of San Antonio. Laurie will also be greatly missed by aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.
