Obituary for Larry Grillet

Larry Gene Grillet, age 73, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2017. Funeral services will be at 3:30 P.M. on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Weldon D. Green officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Larry was born on March 2, 1944 in Childress to Philip E. Grillet, Jr. and Lola B. (Conner) Grillet. He and Sandra L. Long were married on June 8, 1962 in Granbury, Texas. Larry owned and operated Grillet Automotive for over 45 years. He had a love for classic cars and knowledge of them to share, and was a member of numerous car clubs. His day was never complete without his friends stopping by to visit, or preferably argue about something with him. He never met a person he couldn’t talk to about something and never forgot anyone he met. If you needed something, all you had to do was ask and he would help you. Above all else, Larry’s greatest love was his family, whom he cherished and took great pride in all of their accomplishments. He was preceded in death by his father, Philip E. Grillet, Jr. Survivors include his wife, Sandy; his mother, Lola; one daughter, LaLynda (Grillet) Davis and husband, Tommy Dean of Canyon; two grandsons, Nicholaus Heath Eikman and wife, Angela of Oak Harbor, Washington, and Laramie Andrew Davis of Canyon; one granddaughter, Amber Denise Rogers and husband, Dusty of Earth; four great-granddaughters; and numerous extended family and friends.
