Kathleen “Shorty” Hickman, age 92, passed away on December 22, 2018 in Childress, Texas.
Graveside services will be at 3:00pm, Thursday, December 27, 2018 in Childress Cemetery with Dr. Mike Henderson officiating.
Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Home.
Kathleen was born on August 1, 1926 to Herbert Houston Nickell and Willie Mary (Walker) Nickell in Dallas, Texas. She lived in Childress for many years and she cooked for Kay’s Drive-In, Jones Drive-In and JT’s Drive-In for more than 25 of those years. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
She enjoyed dancing and singing karaoke. She loved to play dice, domino and card games Every Sunday, over a bowl of David’s homemade ice cream, she, David, Sherri, Mary Jane and Ray would get together for a night of games.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence Hickman; grandson, Devin Hickman; 2 brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Collins and husband, Darrell of Estelline, TX; Son, David Hickman and wife, Sherri of Childress, TX; Daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Hickman of Childress, TX; Daughter, Mary Jane Cozad and husband, Ray of Childress, TX; Grandson, Craig Collins of Estelline, TX; Granddaughter, Farrah Holcomb and husband, Tommy of Estelline, TX; Grandson, Ryan Hickman and wife, Kimberly of Childress, TX; Granddaughter, Amy O'Connor and husband, Sean of Grand Prairie, TX; Granddaughter, Brandi Manuel and boyfriend, Joe Torres of Childress, TX; Granddaughter, Chrissy Pierce and husband Zach of Childress, TX; Grandson, Greg Cozad and wife, Crystal of Grandview, TX; 15 Great Grandchildren; Numerous Nephews and Nieces; Two Special Friends, Granny Jane Felton and Willie Bob Dobbs.
