Obituary for Julia Elizabeth Wheeler
Graveside services for Julia Elizabeth Wheeler, 70, will be held Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Childress Cemetery with John Oldham officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.
She passed away September 17, 2023 in Childress.
She was born October 18, 1952 in Los Angeles, California to Johnny Ray Jones and Lenora Stroud Jones. She married Tim Wheeler on June 25, 1976 and they spent 47 years as husband and wife.
She loved to garden, loved birdwatching and once won the Beautiful Yard Award given by the Childress Women’s Council. She just loved nature. She loved her cats and was very nurturing and caring. She was a loving wife to Tim, they were soulmates. She ministred to all her family and was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She also loved her coffee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Johnny Max Jones and Justin Jones and a great grandchild, Ashton Lee.
Survivors include her husband, Tim Wheeler, a sister, Nellie Pruett-Jones and Loretta Pruett-Jones, a brother, Alvin Jones, a son, Johnny Floyd Scott, two grandchildren, Johnny Ray Scott and Matthew Scott; great granddaughters Anya Scott, Ashlyn Scott and Kolbie Scott; a son, Antonio Ray Jones; a niece, Melissa Jones; and numerous cousins and other extended family members.
