Obituary for Juanita Rodriguez

Juanita Rodriguez, age 87, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 10 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father David Contreras officiating. Burial will follow in Tell Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Rosary will be held at 7 PM on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Juanita was born on March 5, 1929 in Pearsall, Texas to Mariano and Guadalupe (Yreugas) Moreno. She and Marjil Rodriguez were married on November 8, 1952 in Haskell, Texas and they shared 49 loving years together. Juanita loved to cook and sew, especially for her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and taking care of her family and spending time together brought her great joy. Her family was her life. Juanita worked at a Navy base for years in Corpus Christi. She was crowned the 1947 Cinco de Mayo Queen in Robstown. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Bobby Rodriguez, one sister, and four brothers. Survivors include: son Gil Rodriguez of Childress; daughter Gloria Gonzales and husband, Lupe of Childress; son Marino Rodriguez and wife, Sylvia of Childress; son Eddie Rodriguez of Austin; daughter Silvia Ramos and husband, Richard of Childress; daughter Mary Griffith and husband, Paul of Amarillo; two sisters Jesusa Sanchez of Garland and Mercedes Perez of Corpus Christi; fourteen grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends. For those desiring, memorial donations may be made to the Holy Angels Catholic Church. The family would like to express their thanks to the doctors and nurses at Childress Regional Medical Center and to all the staff at Childress Healthcare Center.
