Joy Jean Holman was born July 7, 1935 in El Dorado, Okla. to Luther Bernard Holman and Ruth Jones Holman. She attended River Camp School and graduated from Childress High School in 1953. She married Ted Lane of Childress in the Childress Church of Christ on July 11, 1954. She raised a family of five including children Phil, Larry, Richard, Brett and Gina. She was a longtime member of the Childress Church of Christ. After raising her family, she entered a successful career as a certified floral designer. She retired to Childress in 2002 to her family farm north of Childress.
Joy’s name was perfect for her as it was the epitome of who she was. She loved three things in this world – God, her family and her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ted in 2012 and a son, Richard.
Survivors include three sons, Phillip Lane, Larry Lane and wife, Donna, and Brett Lane and her daughter, Gina Aalund and husband, Gordon; grandchildren James Lane and wife, Rebekah, Katherine Quinn and husband, Clint, Sarah Pilukaitis and husband, Scott, Jordan Johnson and husband, Clint, William Aalund, Aidan Aalund, Ava Aalund and Molly Lane and six great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Childress Church of Christ Youth Ministry. The family would like to extend special thanks to Childress Regional Medical Center and staff, the Home Healthcare team and the CRMC Hospice team.
