Obituary for Johnny Longbine

Johnny Longbine, 78, passed away May 9, 2020 in Childress. Private graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Childress Cemetery with Dr. Mike Henderson officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Johnny Tabor Longbine was born April 26, 1942 to Lonnie Longbine and Dollie Scott Longbine in Childress. He attended Childress High School where he was voted “most popular” in 1959 and graduated in 1960.
He married Greta Jones on October 20, 1962 and she preceded him in death in 1979. He married Paula Schaub on October 1, 1981.
He owned and operated an Exxon station before opening the popular JT’s Drive-In in July of 1992. He had a passion for hunting and fishing, enjoyed anything with a motor and wheels and was a collector of anything and everything. He loved his dogs and was known for his sense of humor. He was always joking but was also very tender-hearted. He was the life of the party at the craps table. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Greta, and a brother, Jimmy Longbine.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Longbine, of Childress; a daughter, Leia Buddin and husband, Glen, of Childress; two sons, Josh Longbine and wife, Nichole of Amarillo and Mark Mercer and wife, Jennifer of Greensboro, Georgia; six grandchildren, Tabor Morris and wife, Jamie, Tanner Morris and wife, Alicia, Ellis Mercer, Major Mercer, Barrett Longbine and Brynlee Longbine; two great grandchildren, Jaxson Mercer and Weston Morris; a brother, Andy Longbine and wife, Linda of Bridgeport along with numerous other family and friends.
Memorials may be made to Childress Regional Medical Center Hospice.
