Joe Rey Vasquez, Sr., age 70, passed away on June 13, 2017. Funeral services will be at 10 AM on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church with Ronnie Shoffner officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Joe was born on January 6, 1947 in Pearsall, Texas to Felix and Eusebia (Trevino) Vasquez, Sr. A fun-loving and comical man, he loved to make people laugh. He had an easy-going personality that made it easy for people to get to know him, and even those that started out as strangers soon became good friends, of which he had many. He loved to help people, and was a sharp, simple, wonderful man whose family meant the world to him. His grandchildren were his world, and he loved them all immensely and equally. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, a son David Vasquez, two sisters and five brothers. Survivors include son Joe Rey Vasquez, Jr. and wife, Liz of Perryton; son Ricky Vasquez and wife, Christella of Childress; son Felix Vasquez and wife, April of Childress; daughter Kathy Dobbs and husband, Paul of Childress; son Mark Anthony Vasquez, Sr. of Childress; five sisters, Sylvia, Mary, Patsy, Irma and Nora; one brother, Reymundo; 17 grandchildren, Brittany, Joe Rey III, Danielle, Richard, Isaiah, Isaac, Jeremiah, Aeriel, Nicholas, Synghyn, Karch, Haley, Branon, Anthony, Xavier, Sebastian and Idalis and numerous great grandchildren.
