Funeral services for Joe Bailey King, 92, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church with Terry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.

He passed away Sunday, October 17, 2021 in Childress.

Joe Bailey King was born April 7, 1929 in Philadelphia, Mississippi to Royal Stokley King and Rosie Lee Corgill King.

He loved God and his family and was a deacon for over 50 years. He enjoyed being a welder for the railroad and he also rode and broke horses. He loved gardening and always had a huge garden to share with family and friends. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He shared his love and knowledge of horses with his grandson, Jay Glen.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie; a daughter, Glenda Hamrick; infant twins Coleen and Noleen King and two brothers, Tommy King and Barney King.

Survivors include his daughter, Freda Dodson; grandson, Jay Glen Stroud; granddaughter Kristen Strong and husband, Devin; grandson Kyle Dodson and wife, Tara; great grandchildren Preston Stroud, James Dodson and Luke Dodson and numerous extended family members.
