Obituary for J.O. Hix III
Graveside services for J.O. Hix III, 76, will be held Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the Joe E. Jones Memorial Chapel at Childress Cemetery. Burial will follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held March 30, 2022 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.
He passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022 in Childress.
Joe Ord Hix III was born July 21, 1945 in Childress to J.O. Hix II and Ceil King Hix. He was a 1963 graduate of Childress High School and was a practicing Reflexologist in Childress for many years. He also was a dispatcher for the Childress Police Department and worked for TxDOT.
He loved music, remodeling and redecorating houses. He also enjoyed collecting antiques. Everyone called him Papa Jo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sue Donnely.
Survivors include a niece, Lisa Cochran Freeney; a nephew, Tab Cochran; cousins Helen Bodiford, Jo Evlyn Robinson, Norma Halford and Gary Atkinson and special friends Jimmy and Ruth Garibaldi.
