Obituary for Jimmy Dale Sehorn

Graveside services for Jimmy Dale Sehorn, 88, will be held Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Childress Cemetery with Terry Williams officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday, July 16, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.

Mr. Sehorn passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021 in Amarillo.

He was born October 30, 1932 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Willard Cecil Sehorn and Hallie Faye Sehorn. He turned 16 on October 30, 1948 and joined the Army after talking his parents into saying he was 17 so that he could enlist. He served his country proudly for four years and was a veteran of the Korean War.

He was a man with a big heart. Anyone who knew him was considered a friend. He was an amazing storyteller and loved to irritate his grandkids just to see their reactions. He always had a joke or funny story ready tell at a moment's notice. He loved horses and enjoyed going to the riding club. He had a passion for restoring cars. He was a hard worker and was constantly on the go. He always had a pocket of money and made sure Mary had spending money wherever she went. He always treated Mary like she was a queen and made her feel extra special. He was a true gentleman. He was one of the good guys. He never hesitated to help and be there for his family and friends. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth Dale Sehorn; a daughter, Cathy Gail Campbell; a son, Donald Ray Sehorn; a sister, Loretta Marie Watkins; a brother, Willard Ray Sehorn; a brother, Jack Donald Sehorn; a sister, Ramona Maureen Brown; and a sister, Carol Jean Weaver.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Sehorn of Amarillo; two stepdaughters Amber Smith and husband, Billy, of Childress and Cindy Lee and husband, Doyle, of Leander; a granddaughter Sarah Jennine Sanchez and husband, Mike, of Newport Beach, Calif.; a son-in-law Ron Campbell of Stanton, Calif.; siblings Jo Ann Adams and husband, James, of Amarillo, Mary Ruth Hammond and husband, J.R., of Canyon, Clifford Dean Sehorn and wife, Kay, of Gilbert, Ariz., Darrell Gene Sehorn and wife, Linda, of Pampa, Foy Dee Sehorn and wife, Carolyn, of Amarillo, and Coy Bee Sehorn of Amarillo; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
