Obituary for Jimmy Fields

Funeral services for Jimmy Jack Fields were held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 26th, at Guthrie School Activity Center in Guthrie with Cody Cockron officiating. Burial was in the Guthrie cemetery. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday July 25, at Johnson Funeral Home. Jimmy Jack Fields suddenly passed away July 22, 2013 in Childress. He was born October 23, 1943 in Long Beach, California to F.B. and Sarah Fields but was raised in Matador, Texas and Roy, New Mexico where his mother and daddy cooked for and served many cowboys. He graduated from high school in Roy, joined the army, and served his country in Vietnam. After returning home, he began a long career as a cowboy. He worked the 6666's, Pitchfork, Matador, Tongue River, Moorhouse ranches and other ranches in Texas and New Mexico. He met and made many friends along the way and always seemed to find someone he knew wherever he went. He is survived by his wife of 37 years. Laquita Bomar Fields; two children, daughter, Misty Hendren of Alpine, Tx, and son, Byron Fields of Childress. Three grandchildren, Kadin Hendren, and Emilee and Avery Fields; Two cousins, Barbara Currie and Joy Rose. Casket bearers were: Greg Ray, Bruce Slover, Jimmy Slover, Larry Abbott, Fro Waldren and Jeff Shipp. Memorials made be made to Silverton Cemetery Fund, Tom Butler Memorial Scholarship, c/o Tracy Butler of Guthrie or the Matador Reunion Fund.
