He passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023 in Childress. He joined his wife of 73 years, Nadine Henley Parr, his parents Grady and Anna Mae Parr and precious grandbaby Nadalee Parr along with a slew of relatives and friends.
Bruce was born on September 25, 1927 in Childress. He was raised with two brothers, Clee and Terry and two sisters, Anna Beth and Donna Kaye, on a farm.
Bruce met the love of his life, Nadine Henley, in grade school. She was his forever sweetheart. Bruce attended Childress High School for three years. He graduated from Paducah where he played football for the Paducah Dragons. After high school, Bruce joined the Merchant Marines. He worked in the galley. He came home twenty pounds heavier and with many stories to tell.
Bruce married Nadine on March 19, 1948 in her parents’, J.T. and Leta Henley’s home.
He became the foreman of the Buckle L Ranch. Deanie cooked for the cowboys.
Bruce and Nadine then decided to leave the Buckle L. They started their lives farming and ranching. Bruce spent most of his life farming cotton and raising cattle.
Bruce and Nadine raised three children. Brett, Paula Beth and Mark were brought up in the Methodist Church where Bruce and Nadine spent many years as MYF leaders.
Bruce lived and long and blessed life. He could fix or invent anything with WD 40 and baling wire. He could gentle any horse, cow or bull. He kept his wit and humor to the very end.
He will be greatly missed by Brett and Barbara Sue, Paula Beth and Richie and Mark and Glenda. He was the proud grandfather of eight and great grandfather of 16. He also had many other loving relatives and friends that will miss him.
In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to CRMC Hospice or Childress Methodist Church.
