Obituary for Jimmie McClain
Jimmie Dwayne McClain, 80, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018 in Childress. Services will be Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Carey Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Wison officiating and Monte Lumpkin assisting. Burial will imediately follow in the Kirkland cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Johnson Funeral home from 6-8 pm.
Jimmie Dwayne McClain was born on January 6, 1938 to Jim and Margie (Sides) McClain in Quanah, Tx. Jimmie loved God and his family. He was a deacon of Carey Baptist Church and was a member there for 17 years. Jimmie served the Lord and his church through the Sunday School ministry, where he taught Adult Sunday School classes for 40 + years. He also served on the board for Farm Bureau since 1984 and was a board member of the Greenbelt Farmer's Coop. Jimmie farmed for 50 years in the Kirkland area.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Joe McClain and Jerry McClain, 1 daughter, Donna Denise McClain and 1 grandson, Bryan Norton.
Jimmie is survived by his wife Kay of Kirkland Tx.
3 Daughters: Debbie Morgan and husband Rush of Childress Tx, Tammie Lively and husband Mitchell of Childress, Tx, Shonda McClain of Vernon, Tx.
1 Son: David McClain and wife Kristin of Milford, Tx
17 Grand Children: Kurt Underwood and wife Shasta, Quade Brewer and wife Krysten, Tella Norton, Taryn Norton, Zach McClain, Luke McClain, Caleb McClain, Riley Grace McClain, Christopher Ross and Kim Portwood, Courtney Ross, Emily Martinez, Katie Cordova, Jessica Dansby and husband Noah, Jeremy Lively.
9 Great-Grand Children: Hadley Underwood, Emerson Underwood, Kutter Underwood, Rayleigh Duran, Jaleigh Ross, Kaleigh Ross, Owen Dansby, Beckham Dansby, Silas Dansby, Kaitlyn Lively, Kara Lively, and Kash Lively.
1 Brother-in-law: Randal Owen and wife Pat
2 Sister-in-laws: Jannette McClain and Peggy McClain
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Childress Regional Medical Center Hospice.
